In my previous life prior to being a food blogger I was a professional sales rep. This meant I was always driving somewhere and often short of time. While I work from home now primarily I am still aways short on time. I have big goals and with big goals comes big piles of things to do.

Sometimes there just isn’t enough time in a day to make a proper lunch. I actually look forward to the days I am recipe testing or doing a photoshoot because then I can eat my work! On the days I am crammed I look for simple and fast food. Not fast food out of a window but fast food that I can make in a few minutes and get back to it!

Smoothies are perfect! To keep things interesting I have a handful of smoothie recipes I turn too. This Cherry Smoothie with Lime is one of my favourites. The cherries and the lime juice pack a punch of flavour and the almond milk and whey powder keep me full for a few hours so I can get back to work. When I am hungry I can’t concentrate at all I will just sit there like a zombie…. anyone else?

To make this Cherry Lime Smoothie simple throw a cup of frozen cherries, the juice of 1/2 a lime, a cup of unsweetened almond milk, a scoop of vanilla whey powder (your choice of brand) and a handful of ice cubes. Blend until smooth and pour into a tall glass.

If it is too thick to pour add a little bit of cold water to the mix and blend for a few more seconds.

Can you use fresh cherries in this smoothie?

Yes, fresh cherries work just as well. You may need to add and an extra ice cube or two to get the thicker smoothie-like consistency that comes with using frozen fruit.

Do you have to use vanilla whey powder in this recipe?

No, you can replace the whey powder with a 1/2 cup of yogurt if you like.

Or swap out the vanilla for chocolate but when using chocolate I just leave out the lime juice because chocolate and lime… not the best combo.

  1. In the recipe card description it says there’s Greek yogurt in this smoothie, but in the ingredients list Greek yogurt is not listed. Though there is a scoop of vanilla whey powder, which I would not like to use. How much Greek yogurt should I add, please?

    1. You an use either vanilla whey or a 1/2 cup Greek yogurt. I revised to remove the Greek yogurt from the description but they both work well. Neither is there for he flavor just to make it more satisfying.
