Hi there! Nice to meet you!

My name is Alisa, the food photographer, recipe developer and videographer behind The Delicious Spoon. I live in Ontario, Canada close to both the Niagara Wine Region and Toronto. When I am not in my kitchen you will often find me hiking some of the amazing trails we have in Ontario or visiting the regional vineyards sipping a glass of wine.

As a wife, mom of two teenagers, and a dog named Chico, I know how hard it can be to get healthy delicious recipes on the table quickly. Here I will share with you my favourite family recipes as well as a few tasty treats from my own family’s recipes passed down through generations as well as recipes inspired by food from around the world.

I also have an unhealthy thirst for travel and more recently became a travel consultant as well. I spend so much time researching places to go on my next adventure I figured I might as well help others find adventure or a great beach as well! You can find my travel agency page on Facebook at Travel with Alisa.

My mission at The Delicious Spoon

My vision for The Delicious Spoon is that it continues to become a trustworthy source for simple, delicious recipes to connect the world through food, fun, and positivity. Here you can expect to find beautiful photography combined with tried and tested recipes to make cooking easy and fun.

Guiding Values

  • We believe that food is what brings us together and keeps us remembered.
  • We use using simple, accessible ingredients with a balanced approach to eating. You can expect natural, whole-food recipes with a few sweet treats thrown in now and again. Life is all about balance.
  • While we enjoy the latest gadgets, we believe that cooking is an art that should be accessible to everyone and strive to provide recipes that require no special equipment, so that everyone can enjoy each recipe we share.
  • We hope to inspire people to look beyond their current menu and try new flavours or methods of cooking and see the world through their taste buds until the day they can see it with their eyes.

How it All Began…

I grew up in the kitchen, among a family of bakers, with my grandma as my mentor. In her 90s she passed down her hand-written recipe cards filled with recipes passed through my family for generations. Those recipe cards and the day with her showing me all of her tips and tricks were one of the best gifts I have ever received.

Cooking was another matter. While I had perfected the baking techniques taught by my grandma, my cooking skills consisted of heating water for noodle soups and baking frozen pizza. Thankfully, one of the 4th year students I lived with at University couldn’t bear to see me eat this way every day so she taught me all the ins and outs of simple recipes using only a pot and a toaster oven.

I learned cooking does not have to be complicated to taste great and fancy tools are not necessary.

Fast forward many moons and in 2019 I left a life in corporate Canada with a career spanning over 20 years in marketing, new product development, and digital media and started The Delicious Spoon. In two short years, The Delicious Spoon and her team have quickly grown to 100,000 monthly views, over 10,000 Instagram followers, and nearly 2 million Pinterest views per month. I have had the amazing opportunity to work with brands such as BeeMaid Honey, Gay Lea Foods Coop, Bigelow Tea, San Pellegrino, Egg Farmers of Ontario, and many more as well as having been featured in the Toronto Sun, BuzzFeed, Parade, and Health Magazine.
