Bang Bang Sauce is a quick, easy way to switch things up from the usual BBQ sauce, plum or chili sauce. Made in one bowl in just minutes, this spicy mayo sauce works perfectly as a dip or sauce and pairs beautifully with crispy panko-crusted air fryer shrimp, adding just the right balance of heat and tang.
I love using this easy sauce as both a dip and a shortcut dinner solution. Toss those crispy shrimp right in the sauce and spoon the coated shrimp into taco shells for a simple weeknight meal that comes together fast and actually fills everyone up.

Star Ingredients
- Mayonnaise – I prefer full-fat mayo simply because it has more flavour and is thicker. You an also make this recipe vegan by using vegan mayonnaise instead.
- Sweet Chili Sauce – Adds a little heat but is used mostly for sweetness and flavor.
- Sriracha – Used for spiciness. You can adjust this up and down based on your tolerance for heat.
- Lemon Juice – I prefer to use lemon juice over vinegar because I find that the citrus notes balance the sweetness out nicely while also complementing any seafood or chicken you plan to use. If you prefer, you can use white or apple cider vinegar. It adds a tartness and zing to balance the sweet chili sauce.
Making Bang Bang Sauce
Add all of the ingredients to a bowl and stir. Nothing more to it!

Serving Suggestions
- Drizzle it over tacos filled with veggies, chicken or shrimp
- Dip vegetables, chicken nuggets, popcorn shrimp or pita bread for a simple appetizer.
- Pour the Bang Bang sauce over chicken nuggets or crispy breaded shrimp and toss.

Leftovers? No Problem!
Store any unused sauce in a tightly sealed container in the fridge for up to a week. With time, I find the ingredients can start to separate a bit so before using, give the sauce a good stir.
I don’t recommend freezing this sauce. It only takes about 2 minutes to make so fresh is always best.
