One of the best things about this air fryer shrimp is how quick it is to make, giving you that crispy, golden coating you want in a great crispy shrimp appetizer. It works just as well for a quick snack before dinner as it does for serving a crowd, especially when you’ve got a bowl of Bang Bang Sauce ready for dipping or tossing.
If you’re into easy shrimp recipes, you might also like trying savory pan-seared shrimp or lemon garlic butter shrimp. They’re just simple, no-fuss ways to cook shrimp, each with its own flavor twist depending on what you’re in the mood for.

Star ingredients
- Shrimp – Used peeled shrimp with or without the tails still on. I like them without the tails and fully peeled so I can pop them in my mouth in one bite. But if serving as an appetizer at a party, the tails do double as a way to pick them up without the need for a fork. But the shell has to go!
- Panko Breading – Drier and with more texture than regular bread crumbs to give a crispier texture to grab on to the sauce.
- Oil Spray – any mild flavor oil will do. Spraying the breading before air frying gives the shrimp a crispy, less-dry texture without making them greasy.
- Mayonnaise – I recommend using the full-fat version because it is thicker and less watery than the reduced version.
- Sriracha – Adjust this up and down depending on your spice tolerance.

Step-By-Step Made Simple

Leftovers? No Problem!
If you’ve got some left, store them in the fridge in a tightly sealed container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 2 minutes. The sauce will more than likely absorb into the shrimp, so the flavor will be there, but the creamy texture will disappear. If this happens, you can always make a half or quarter batch of the bang bang sauce and toss them again.
This recipe doesn’t freeze well, so I don’t recommend.

Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp
Equipment
- Air-fryer
Ingredients
- 10 oz peeled shrimp (30-40 shrimps)
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp seasoning salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp cooking oil spray (light flavored). Approx. measurement.
Bang Bang Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 tbsp sriracha sauce
- 2 tsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Start by peeling and deveining the shrimp, leaving the tails on if you like a little extra grip. Pat them dry so the coating sticks better, and then mix the bread crumbs and seasoning salt in one bowl and whisk the eggs in another bowl.
- Dip the shrimp in the eggs letting any excess drip off and then dredge the shrimp in the breadcrumbs to coat. Continue until all the shrimp are breaded.
- Once all the shrimp are breaded add the shrimp to the air fryer basket and give them a spray of the cooking oil to coat lightly.
- Peheat your air fryer to 400°F and air fry the shrimp for 4 minutes. Use tongs to turn the shrimp over and give them another spray. Cook for the remaining 4 minutes or until the shrimp are curled and appear pink.
- While the shrimp are cooking, add all of the ingredients for the Bang Bang Sauce into a small bowl and mix to combine.
- Once the shrimp are cooked, add both the shrimp and sauce to a large bowl and toss to coat before serving hot.
