I first made these lightly seasoned pita chips to accompany my Harissa White Bean Dip and the true are a healthy snack match made in heaven. Both can be whipped up in just a few minutes with a handful of ingredients and the light flavor of these pita chips is the perfect compliment to the robust flavour of the white bean dip.
That said, since I first made these pita chips, I’ve enjoyed them with a variety of hummus, dips and salsas. I’ve also been known to just grab a handful or two when I need a quick snack on the go.
These seasoned pita chips are flavoured with olive oil, salt, pepper and oregano. It’s a simple mix that provides just a touch of flavour to compliment but not overwhelm your dip of choice.
When purchasing pita for this recipe, I recommend looking for a Lebanese style. There are many varieties of pita bread out there, ranging from thick to thin and some even have pockets which are great for making sandwiches but not ideal for these air fryer pita chips.
I’ve found that the thin Lebanese style pita chips are ideal for homemade pita chips. They are less bready and therefore thinner than other styles and crisp up nicely, particularly in the air fryer.
If you’re feeling extra motivated or happen to have leftover homemade pita on hand, you could also use those to make these air fryer chips.
