Old-fashioned chocolate fudge is decadent, rich and creamy. You only need 3 easy ingredients to make a batch. It's easy to customize and is the perfect addition to holiday parties or as a gift for family and friends.
Line 8" or 9" square baking dish with parchment paper
Add 2 or 3 inches of water to the bottom of a medium saucepan then place a heat-resistant bowl over top just above the water making sure no water can escape or splash. Water will cause the chocolate to seize. Bring water to a simmer over medium-low heat.
Add 3 cups of semi-sweet chocolate to the heat-resistant bowl and stir often until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
Next add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla and mix until completely blended and the mixture is smooth. If you are adding nuts, candy or other add-ins add them now and mix until evenly combined.
Remove from heat and pour the fudge into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to push the fudge into the corners and spread it out evenly. Cover with plastic wrap in cool in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
When cooled lift the parchment paper with fudge out of the baking dish and peel away the parchment paper. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Storage:Store this easy chocolate fudge recipe in a tightly sealed container on the counter at room temperature for 2-3 weeks. Storing it in the fridge will cause it to dry out and crystalize losing its creamy texture. If you wish to freeze this fudge for later I would recommend doing so before cutting or rather freezing in chunks by either cutting it in half or quarters. Wrap the fudge tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw the fudge in the refrigerator and then once thawed store at room temperature.Optional Add-ins:If you want to add a little more pizzaz to your fudge try adding in about 3/4 of a cup of these items:
