These Crostini Crackers are the first things to go whenever I put out cheese spreads or dips for appetizers when friends come over. A few minutes in the oven, and you've got a crunchy, garlicky base for almost anything.
Thinly slice a baguette into 1/4" rounds and place them flat and not overlapping on a baking sheet.
In a small bowl, add the olive oil and minced garlic. Use a basting brush to brush the olive oil and garlic mixture over the top of each baguette slice. I find you may need to scoop out the little bits of garlic to add to the top. Sprinkle the baguette slices with the coarse salt.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the baguette slices are crisp and golden brown. Watch carefully so as not to burn them. Remove and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Variations:
Add chopped rosemary, oregano or thyme to the olive oil mixture for more flavor.
Swap the coarse salt out for parmesan cheese
Storage:Store leftovers in a tightly sealed container on the kitchen counter for up to 3 days.
